Welcome!

Welcome to Hillside! Our strong foundation is based on a partnership among students, teachers, parents, and the community. Hillside’s PTA is a consistent top-performer, earning recognition as Outstanding Local Unit, Model PTA, and putting on unique programs like Science Day, Artist Day and our popular All-Pro Dads events. This year’s membership drive is our school’s only active PTA-program fundraiser. Hillside’s award-winning PTA programs cost approximately $75 per child.

Congratulations Hillside PTA!

Leah Ward, Sandy Craig (PTA Presidents), Dr. Otway and Ms. Blalock just attended the annual North Fulton PTA Presidents and Principals Luncheon last week. We are so proud and excited to report that Hillside Elementary was recognized with two awards!

For three years in a row, Hillside Elementary PTA is recognized again as an Outstanding Local Unit within the North Fulton Council which represents 49 elementary, middle and high schools. Hillside is 2nd place this year among all elementary schools. We humbly accepted this award on behalf of YOU: each and every one of you who work tirelessly on for all of our students and families.

We also received the Connect With Council award which represents our active participation in training, networking and partnership with other PTAs within the North Fulton Council.

Hillside’s 5K Husky Dash was a Success!

Hillside Elementary turns 10 years old this year. To celebrate a decade of educational excellence, Hillside held its first annual Husky Dash 5K on March 3rd.   Despite a night of intense rainstorms and a menacing, rainy sky the following morning, the Husky Dash was a huge success!    Volunteers came out in the wind and rain to set up for the 5K, Sammy Rosenberg kept the energy level high as the awesome DJ and MC, and runners of all ages braved the cold to tackle a challenging, but fun, race course.  Spirits were high and the atmosphere was festive as runners were cheered across the finish line.  Thirteen year old Alexander Augusta stated, “As a Hillside Alumni I was so proud to run the Hillside Husky 5K dash.  They are number one in my heart and number one in my feet.”

Leah Ward, Hillside’s co-president for the PTA commented on the success of the Husky Dash, “While planning this inaugural event, we were unsure about the response from the community.  But in the end, what a response it was!  We had seasoned runners and those that weren’t even sure what a 5K was; we received tremendous sponsorship from local establishments and corporate names; we had participation from Hillside families, teachers and staff as well as alumni and community neighbors.  And even though the weather threw us quite a curve ball, it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying exercise and fellowship in the freezing cold all in support of their school and community.  We are already looking forward to next years’ Dash.”

As technology plays such a critical role in our children’s education, 100% of the proceeds from the Husky Dash will be used to upgrade and improve technology at Hillside to better equip our students for learning in the 21st century.

This event could not have been the success that it was without the amazing response we received from the surrounding community, in particular the following businesses who sponsored the event:

The Marathoners (giving at a $1000+ level) included Big Peach Running Company, The City of Roswell, Children’s Dental Zone, E.nopi Learning Center, Go Marketing, Jontastic, Mibab Orthodontics, The Pediatric Place and Sports Clips.

The Sprinters (giving at the $500 level) are Cobblestone Therapy Group, Cresa, Kohl’s, Bergquist Law Firm, Northeast Chiropractic Center, and Carithers Flowers. The Joggers (giving at the $250 level) include Karate Atlanta (Rivermont Station) and Profisee.

The in-kind sponsors made such a difference for the Dash, giving such items as bagels, banners, water, fresh fruit, a jumpy house, signage, posters, coffee and more! Those sponsors include Speedpro Imaging, Bodies by Reggie, Chick-fil-A, Einstein Brothers Bagels, Ellard Cleaners, Free Spirit Salon, Games 2U, INNERFACE Architectural Signage, Jump and Slide, Kids R Kids (Holcomb Bridge/Roswell Location), Kroger, Moe’s, Newtown Recreation, Pacesetters PR, Pink Pastry Parlor, Publix (Haynes Bridge), Sammy Rosenberg, Dr. Elizabeth Sergile, Starbucks at Ellard Village, Sushi Uchi, The UPS Store Haynes Bridge, Whole Foods/Harry’s Farmer’s Market, and Yoforia.

Please support these businesses and give them a Husky High Five as thanks!
